Glitter Lamps usually consist of a base that contains a light bulb, with a teardrop-shaped glass container sitting above it. The container usually contains mineral oil and "glitter". The light bulb heats the liquid and thus creates a flowing current, glitter reflects light, creating a mystifying environment. Though on more recent models they have turned to LED lights and an impeller to power it, becoming more energy efficient.
While glitter lamps are seen traditionally as decorative, they can be quite functional as well. They can be used to light an area in the dark without being too bright, perfect for a hallway or a room at night. Thus, they make rather good night lights for kids. There are many night light variants and mini models that are entirely safe for children. My niece and nephew each have one for their rooms, and my nephew recently asked for a larger blue one as he liked his smaller one so much. They can also be used to add an organic and peaceful environment, I have one in my meditation room and it works quite well.
Glitter lamps are also great decorations for parties, adding a carefree and fun atmosphere. Because of the large variety of colors and shapes; you will be able to find the perfect glitter lamp to match your tastes and home. Though one does have to be cautious when choosing a new glitter lamp, as a poorly made one can become quite a hassle and end up costing you more money having to deal with it.
